A new, direct-to-consumer campaign hopes to drive new color clients into the salon by highlighting the advantages of professional, in-salon color services and the dangers and disadvantages of in-home box color. Launched by Goldwell, “You Can’t Get Supernatural from a Supermarket” is a multi-media campaign led by industry icon, Nick Arrojo.
In a series of webinars and documentary-style webisodes from Monday, Feb. 27 to June 30, stylists can tune into GoldwellLive.com to watch Goldwell International Master Dimitrios Tsioumas’ step-by-step process of creating an entry for the Color Zoom Challenge. Each of the webinars will teach you a component of what you will need in order to put together a winning submission.
Celebrity Stylist Marie Ferro has created numerous makeovers on clients both young and old. In this makeover, she added a bit of warmth to give this mature client's skin a youthful glow. She also added a rich undertone with lowlights to put color back into the skin. "With the invention of HD Television everything shows on my celebrity clients now more than ever. Color detailing the tonal range in the hair is very important," she says. "They want to see the hair pop off the screen."
If your clients are looking to spice up their color, try transitioning them into a multi-dimensional redhead. "With this model I took her flat brown color and painted in variations of golden copper and copper red which play off each other to create a lot of movement in her hair," says Celebrity Stylist Marie Ferro who created this look.

To encourage creative colorists to enter the company’s annual “Color Zoom Challenge” photo competition, Goldwell is launching a new series of video webinars featuring award-winning editorial stylist and guest artist Dimitrios Tsioumas.
At Goldwell, the new team of six Artistic Directors is all part of a master plan to support stylists at every stage of their careers.
A large part of the clients that come into Celebrity Stylist Marie Ferro's Malibu, California salon—Marie's Hair Studio—come in wanting gray coverage. "The trick to working with mature women is enhancing their skin tone by adding depth around the face, melting tone into the midshaft and leaving the ends light and bright," says Ferro. "Creating dimension in the hair mimics what the hair did before it turned gray." Ferro says to use a maximum of three tones to make the hair muddy. Follow her steps on how to re-create this look on your mature clients. It will make them look years younger!
