On Thursday, March 23, hairdressers at 53 Intercoiffure salons, students at Bellus Academy and the Artistic Academy of Hair Design, and their clients/guests took part in a beautiful service project and raised $100,000 to support Beauty Changes Lives.
The “One Ticket, One Day” event was the brainchild of Candy Shaw, accomplished hairstylist, beauty entrepreneur, and advocate for professional education. Shaw envisioned a day of service that would not only raise funds for the next generation of beauty professionals but would invite an elite network of stylists and students to uplift the industry together.
“Writing a check is one thing, but giving the gift of my hands is another. I thought that if I could encourage artists to support the next generation of beauty professionals, that we could not only raise incredible funding for future beauty professionals, bet we could uplift our industry — it was a beautiful thing to watch.”

Jamison Shaw Hairdressers, founded by Shaw’s father Jamison, led the charge as the first salon to sign up and other salons across the Intercoiffure network rallied to support the cause.
“Gadabout Salons blew us away with staggering participation and donations from their staff across multiple locations,” added Shaw who described the fundraiser as the “easiest ask” of her life. “The hair community is incredibly giving, and I can’t wait to see how this day of community and generosity evolves.”
Lynelle Lynch, founder of Beauty Changes Lives and owner of Bellus Academy said the event was also an opportunity for students to learn about the humanitarian spirit that thrives in the professional beauty sector.
“Our students were humbled by the way some of the industry’s most iconic talent heeded the call to give back to the next generation, said Lynch. "They saw this fundraiser not only as a vote of confidence in their career choice, but as an inspiration to keep paying their success forward once they enter the industry and their careers evolve.”
