When Cosmetologists Chicago invited my to become involved with Color America it was important to me to always have the most amazing friends who prove themselves everyday by making our industry and stylists behind the chair better. With artists like Kris Sorbie, Chrystofer Benson, Sue Pemberton, James Edick, John Simpson, Kimberly Kimble, Kelly Cardenas and Jo Blackwell-Preston, so far, Color America in the Company of Patrick McIvor has done just that, and this next time is no exception.

For Color America New York City, I return to my roots, literally. I was born in New York in 1966 and I worked in NYC for most of my professional career, so I really wanted to bring more amazing friends together in this amazing city. And what an experience this Color America will be, with three artists who are salon owners and one artist who combines color and business in every business he co-owns. In these trying times, Color America New York City will be an amazing learning experience with David Adams of redCHOCOLATE, Adrienne Rogers of HUSH Salon, Rodney Cutler of Cutler salon, and me (patrick mcivor color studio).

So why these friends for Color America? The amazing mix of ideas and experience they can provide that can make us better, and then we have me too.

David Adams
David’s lifelong love of artistry led him to a hairdressing career and respected color specialty. Previously technical artistic director for Aveda and current founder and president of the new redCHOCOLATE, David inspires and develops the hair color professional, while helping salons grow their color and texture businesses. David enjoys a close collaboration with celebrity clients including Bjork, Brenda Blethyn, Cher, Claudia Schiffer, Heather Graham, Jude Law, Kylie Minogue, Peter Gabriel, Sadie Frost, The Spice Girls and Sting. He has worked for such fashion greats as Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, Balenciaga, Miu Miu and Prada

Adrienne Rogers
With 20+ years of experience, Adrienne owns Hush Salon in Philadelphia along with guest colorist stints at the NYC Cutler Salons. A recognized editorial stylist, she often works with up-and-coming models to color-prep for Fashion Week and photo shoots. As Product Club’s National Technical Training Director, she travels to teach advanced color techniques nationwide and is featured in several educational DVDs.

Rodney Cutler
Rodney Cutler began styling hair at 16, with a four-year apprenticeship at Rifmik, a leading Australian salon. Arriving at Bumble & bumble, NYC, in 1992, he became a top stylist while co-developing cutting and training programs. Opening the Cutler Salon in 2001, Rodney opened another in Soho in 2005 and in Miami in 2008. Each Cutler Salon has a Redken Lab for client and colorist interaction. The Cutler team of 150 is active in editorial and runway hairstyling worldwide. Rodney’s celebrity clientele includes Rachael Ray, Jamie King, Gavin DeGraw and Jordin Sparks, among others.

Patrick McIvor
Artistic Director for Matrix, has 25 years of experience teaching and mentoring colorists with his warm and welcoming style. Patrick loves to share salon-based haircolor techniques, continuing the Matrix tradition established by founder Arnie Miller to help salon pros transform their passion into success. His patrick mcivor color studio in Pennsylvania serves as headquarters for creativity and a launching pad for his team’s runway and editorial work in New York City. His haircolor knowledge is limitless. In addition to founding the color department at the former Arrojo Cutler Salon, he’s been an educator with the best companies including Wella, Clairol, Logics, Redken and now Matrix.

At this time, I truly believe our industry can do a lot for this country because of what we do, make people look and feel great. I have learned so much from the artists featured at this Color America from David Adams’ amazing spectrum of work and talent, to Adrienne Rogers’ salonable approach to genius color, to the amazing force within our industry that is the Rodney Cutler and the Cutler brand. With a team that truly walks the walk and shares the truth about ideas and techniques, this Color America is your only chance to share ideas with this team that will one day make you, your salon and your guests better.
