J Ladner itsmrjladner

J Ladner of Dayton, Ohio, is best known for his wet balayage technique and cobra balayage, but he’s also a host of an industry podcast and grew his 100,000+ following in just two short years for being one of the nicest humans out there. “My account is built for hairstylists trying to refuel and get inspiration, so I speak truth about my reality and the things that make me successful,” he says. Fun facts?  He’s a low-key makeup addict who can also do backflips!

Salon J Ladner, Dayton, Ohio

Specialty: Wet balayage and cobra balayage

Top-performing post: A cobra balayage video that was all about celebrating depth and lightness. When creating content, it’s important to have something to say. My account is built for hairstylists trying to refuel and get inspiration, so speak truth about my reality and the things that make me successful. Dig deep into the why you are doing something and watch your feed explode.

Favorite apps: Cliplip to add my signature music played on every video. Filmr for editing. Over to add captions and make my stories speak my brand.

Pro tip: Captions are the most important aspect to getting your followers to engage. Speak your truth. If you want to use social media for gaining more guests, give them tips on how to ask for desired looks you are posting, give how to videos. If you want to educate, share your secrets.

Hidden talent: I’m a low-key makeup addict.

Fun fact: I tumble and do backflips! I love dancing.

My audience follows me because: I try to understand the importance of being real and being nice. Sharing my deepest feelings allow people to relate and I understand that we all just want to feel we are not alone.

How social media changed my life: It has allowed me to travel the world, share my message and grow with all the rebels with a beauty cause. Social media has made my voice heard all over the world and I am forever humbled.

My first @modernsalon feature: I casually fainted. The post was a transformation from a brunette to a vivid blue.
