Top-performing post: My most engaged post was really just recently when I did a bright orange bob using Pulp Riot. I was really blown away that it went viral. I was so nervous about it because I don’t feel like I specialize in vibrant hair, but when I finished it and took pictures of it, I kind of stepped back and thought, “I really nailed this!”
Favorite apps: Snapseed, Facetune and SplitPic. Snapseed and Facetune I feel are the most user-friendly editing apps when you just need to do minimal editing.

Pro tip: I think the best way to get a good pic is to have really great natural lighting. I was also taught to get at eye level with what you are trying to photograph. If you are taller than the client you are trying to photograph, bring yourself down to the same level rather than being above it. Don’t be afraid to take a million pictures of one certain look. If you take a pic and notice a fly away hair, fix it and retake the pic.
Hidden talent: I don’t know if it’s a talent or not, but I feel like I cut hair backwards from most hairdressers. When I do my short bob style haircuts, I always cut my layers in first before cutting my perimeter. Once you get your layers cut, you can see exactly where your base length needs to be.
Fun fact: I love riding horses.
My audience follows me because: I think most of my followers are short hair lovers.
How social media changed my life: Early in my career, I didn’t have much of an Instagram page for just my hair. I would use my personal page and post here and there. After I actually got one started for just my work, I soon noticed that my clientele stared to grow immensely. It’s really cool to get messages from people all over the country telling me they have taken my pics in to their own stylist wanting my hair cuts.
My first @modernsalon feature: The first time I was featured on @modernsalon was a picture of my favorite short textured bobs. It was also my first big feature, so it made me so giddy!
