My First Time: A Razor Cut with Nick Arrojo
In an anniversary year for the Arrojo NYC brand, on an early Monday morning, Nick Arrojo used a razor on my hair. And I liked it.
Haley Kimble is best known for her blonding color. See why we chose her to be part of our 2019 MODERN SALON 100.

What happens when you mix sweet-as-sweet-tea southern charm with the cosmopolitan vibes of a Midwestern metro? You get the lovely, talented Haley Kimble (@haleyki), originally from Tennessee and now based at Ulta Beauty’s Chicago flagship store on the Magnificent Mile. Don’t let her polite demeanor fool you though—she can whip out a badass blonde!
Haley Kimble
Ulta Beauty, Chicago
Specialty: Blonding, color
Top-performing post: A simple bottle blonding retouch technique, but it’s a quick, handy trick to have in your back pocket.
Favorite apps: Facetune refines my work and gives refreshed look to the image.
I follow: Sonya Dove, Ammon Carver, really all the Ulta Beauty Pro Team. They genuinely inspire me.

Pro tip: Natural light is always my best friend; and try to give a truly useful share for other stylists in the comments when possible.
Hidden talent: I do a pretty great fashion pony.
Fun fact: I can write raps about any topic given five minutes.
My audience follows me because: I think my core audience consists of other stylists I’ve encountered either personally in classes I’ve taught or other events throughout my journey that know I love this industry and enjoy building others up.
How social media changed my life: It’s been a great platform for me to express my artistry and explore my creativity and celebrate others’ simultaneously.
My first @modernsalon feature: I did a red French twist that represented a lot of the techniques I’d picked up over the years but put my own spin on it. I was proud of my work, but I felt the biggest burst of pride when @modernsalon deemed it worthy to repost!
