If you know anything about salon hashtags on Instagram, than you’ve likely seen us using #hairdressermagic quite often. Few stylists embody the true art of a transformation quite like Kristen Colòn. Her extension work continues to leave us SHOOK to say the least. From subtle blending to total makeovers, Colòn knows a thing or two about leaving her followers feeling like she casted a spell.
Top-performing post: This transformation was my best post for engagement on my page, plus it got reposted by so many. This was a collab that I did with my husband. It is to show what you can do with extensions to create a total makeover without coloring the hair. We used a full head of tape-in extensions and a clip-on top piece. Basic to Bombshell.
Favorite apps: Snapseed to remove shadows behind my client; Facetune to remove blemishes; and Preview to organize and plan my content before I post.

Pro tip: Definitely a beautiful face. Seems silly, but it stops you while you are scrolling does it not? I let my clients know I’m going to take photos so either come full face makeup or bring it with them. Then directing them how to pose and make them comfortable. I put my phone in selfie mode and hold it out in front of them. We all know our good angles!
Hidden talent: I’m obsessed with eyelash extensions. It’s crazy, tedious work, but I love constructing and shaping them for each person. I do them on my time off from working in the salon and traveling as an educator.
My audience follows me because: I love to use my platform on social media to teach extensions. It’s truly my passion for years, and now it’s available even if you can make it for a full class. I use Color Maps to show what colors I use and where I place them. I allow them to see inside my head and not just off a photo.
How social media changed my life: Social media has allowed me to connect with stylist I might have never gotten to know or see if they aren’t attending shows or classes. It’s allowed me to see evolving trends and the massive amount of talent out there worldwide to keep me inspired and motivated.
