James Dean, his trademark smolder and generous head of hair were the inspiration for Yulia Mulder of The Netherlands. “He was tragic and dramatic and a woman can really feel like a woman with a man like that,” said Yulia. “I am really happy that I found a guy (her model) that can look like that and I could do something that looked like the 1950s. I showed the model all the pictures of James Dean on the internet and I told him we were going to try for this look. ”
Yulia, a salon owner who worked for Revlon Professional in Russia before moving to Holland six years ago, has been a Style Master (Revlon Professional’s global competition) winner. She was impressed by her fellow competitors. “I think all the work is absolutely perfect. The styling and technique is so great.”
One evening in Lisbon, American Crew threw a cocktail party for competitors and friends and Yulia showed up in sparking sequins looking every inch the Hollywood starlet which was fitting as she said her experience at the All Star Challenge felt like, “I’m watching a movie and I am a part of it. It is amazing, crazy and I realize that I am a little bit of a star.”
