The All-Star Challenge originated as the Face Off competition, first launched by American Crew in Australia. In 2011, the competition changed to a global format, and in 2013- 2014, American Crew again transformed the format to best showcase the talent of hair stylists from more than 40 countries. In total, more than 10,000 stylists have brought their best to the All-Star Challenge, inspired by David Raccuglia’s founding principles of a company that set the standard for men’s grooming.
The All-Star Challenge at its core is based on the American Crew Menwork, the infrastructure of the education system and the foundation of all cuts. It builds the skills and confidence of stylists through a series of demonstrations and hands-on cutting. The Menswork™ Method is the perfect blend of hairdressing, core barbering and advanced techniques that create contemporary men’s looks and a passion for the craft. Since the establishment of the Menswork™ Academy in 1998, stylists globally have learned and continued the commitment of the Menswork philosophy of hairdressing.
ABOUT AMERICAN CREW:
Hairstylist David Raccuglia sold the first American Crew product in 1994, starting a revolution in the industry that paved the way for men’s grooming to become the industry it is today. The initial six products – Daily Shampoo, Daily Conditioner, Texture Crème, Firm Hold Styling Gel, Light Hold Styling Gel and Pomade – launched to rave reviews. With David’s expertise and commitment to barbering, American Crew quickly became the standard by which other men’s grooming lines are judged. The American Crew product portfolio has grown from hair to body and shave, and supplies everything needed to create and care for men’s styles, available exclusively in salons, barbershops and authorized retailers. The product is distributed in more than 30,000 salons across over 40 countries.
American Crew has an ongoing commitment to elevating men’s style and enhancing their personal image, and provides education, marketing and imaging support to help stylists communicate the brand’s vision of men’s grooming and fashion – classic style, reliability and confidence – to the marketplace. The commitment to education started early, with the American Crew Menswork Academy opening in Boulder, CO, in 1998.
