Mizani's Runway show on the SalonCentric stage at America's Beauty Show in Chicago was all about building texture upon texture. The presentation featured models with all levels of texture - from straight to kinky, curly.

MODEL #1: This model's texture was prepped using a traditional curling wand. Intricate braids were added on the sides and back of the model's head. Mizani wanted the final look to resemble an undercut. This model's texture was transformed on stage using backcombing. It's a perfect example of how you can transition a look from daytime to evening wear.

MODEL #2: To create the "Fro Show" (as Mizani likes to call it) you first need to give your client a layered haircut (as seen on the model in the slideshow). This look was created using two-strand twists, that they let sit overnight, and then they pieced it out with backcombing. The overall look is full of dimension.

MODEL #3: This model already had slight wavy texture in her hair. To create this look, Mizani used their Laces technique. They wrapped her hair using foam, covered it with aluminum foil, and then flatironed the hair. To create the final look, they used backcombing for the airy texture.

MODEL #4: This model has naturally straight hair. To create her texture, they crimped her entire head and then brushed it all out. She was later transformed on stage from a day to evening look. To create her final look, they French braided the hair down the middle and then left a little fluff in the back.

MODEL #5: To create this model's texture, Mizani used a flatiron to create the waves. They also said you can use hot rollers to create the same effect. This edgy look is defined by its shaved sides and etched graphics to its triangle bob (which gives the overall look more drama and effect).
