Having transformed the art of hairdressing and special occasion hair worldwide, updo extraordinaire Martin Parsons encourages stylists to find their own sense of style. Parsons has shared his contagious enthusiasm for quality hair design education with tens of thousands of stylists around the world. Here, Parsons shares with us five examples of special occasion styles you can try on your clients this Spring/Summer.
INSIGNIA: “3D detail over a full, smooth off-the-face shape was inspired by Grace Kelly images and the thrill of formal events. Designed for medium to longer lengths.”
INGENUE WAVES: “Inspired by couture images, high fashion movies and luxurious weddings, triangle sections are teased at the base, sprayed and draped into dramatic wave patterns. Elegant, sophisticated with an air of artistry, this look is meant to impress. Designed for shoulder length and longer hair.”
KNOTTED TWIST: “An eye catching style that begs to be noticed and interesting to look at was inspired to be a new take on the French twist. Smooth and simple, five triangle sections are knotted at the base. The ends then twisted tight enough that only the knots show up. Gorgeous on natural curly hair. Designed for medium to longer lengths.”
ROMANTIC TUMBLE: “Luxurious detail inspired by ‘50s movie stars and youthful maturity. Open, airy soft movements are created with teased triangles that are draped and pinned individually to hold all day and evening. Designed for shorter to longer hair lengths.”
CALIFORNIA DREAMING: “Classic half ups draped to one side suits any formal or party event and off the shoulder gowns. A bit of hair brushing the shoulders and tendrils highlight a scrumptious folded pattern. Designed for longer layers and one length hair.”
