Aveda Guest Artist Frank Rizzieri created a DIY, nostalgia-inspired look for Tibi’s Spring/Summer 2019 runway show to compliment Tibi designer Amy Smilovic’s “memories are made of this” theme.

For a special twist that spoke to the theme, Rizzieri used hair barrettes placed in various sections of the hair for a loose, pulled back style.

“It’s DIY hair with a random, attainable feel,” Rizzieri said. “Some of the hair is straight, some wavy, and some we’re just leaving natural—it depends on length and texture.”

Rizzieri created this look to reflect Smilovic’s design sensibility, which he described as simple yet statement making. “I didn’t want something prescriptive that had to be the same on every model,” Smilovic said. “And for people who remember the '90s, this idea of decorating your hair with ‘hair jewelry’ will be very familiar, even nostalgic.”

To achieve this look, Rizzieri used ​Texture Tonic​ to enhance the hair’s natural texture. For those who needed extra oomph, he used ​Pure Abundance Hair Potion​ and a light spray of ​Air Control Light Hold Hairspray​.
