Shannon Roberts of Salon Aquarius in Knoxville, Tennessee, wowed Oribe and MODERN with his submission for Oribe’s 2017 holiday contest. The black-and-white images are a departure for Roberts, a colorist who wanted to challenge himself.
“I have been watching a lot of French films from the ’60s and was completely taken by the style of Catherine Deneuve, Brigitte Bardot and company,” Roberts says. “They magnetically embodied the look of the 1960s with a combination of elegance, sex appeal and undeniable chic. These elements seem as fresh today as they were then.”
Roberts set his model’s hair with a combination Oribe Grandiose Hair-Plumping Mousse, Dry Texturizing Spray and Swept Up Volume Powder Spray. Quick style changes were achieved with the new Free Styler Working Hair Spray.
“It was scary and invigorating to step outside of my box for a bit and see what I could do,” Roberts says.
