Wella Company named the winners of its 2021 Beauty Envision Awards in a live announcement Sunday, August 15, at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, where 33 top hairstylists and nail artist professionals from the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada came together to attend the event presented by TrendVision. This always highly anticipated competition gives beauty professionals an opportunity to elevate their skills and showcase their creativity, envisioning the next era of beauty.
Despite the obstacles of the past year, salon professionals have emerged as stronger, more adaptive artists, according to Wella Company CEO Annie Young-Scrivner. "Tonight is special,” Young-Scrivner said from the stage. “This year’s competition received the second highest number of entries from the past 10 years. These artists are proof that this industry is unstoppable, and we’re so happy to be back educating and inspiring beauty professionals live in Las Vegas.”
Finalists were narrowed down from more than 3,600 entries to take to the stage in an event that mixed live competition with online submissions across 13 diverse categories. Artists showcased looks around the “Chrysalis” theme, symbolizing the protective covering something or someone creates to shield themselves until they emerge into a new state of growth.
The night included creative presentations from the Wella Professionals Ambassador team and the #TogetherWeRise team. Briana Cisneros, Zach Mesquit and Dereq Clark from the Ambassador team presented "Creative Rebellion," looking at the world through the lens of change to reveal a renaissance of color, a rebellion of creativity. The goal was to create and inspire a deliberate act of defiance, sparking a new beginning. Omar Antonio, Johannie Jacquitte and Anthony Cress made up the #TogetherWeRise team, presenting what Omar described as “a journey through the passion and anger of protesting (Fire), the eerie silence and fear of a shelter in place (Smoke/Ash), and the promise of hope for tomorrow (Rebirth).”
