Long Hair Design: Updos are AWESOME

I’m in my 10th week at Pivot Point, and we’re just wrapping up our lessons on long hair design. I love being creative, but I have a hard time getting started. Because I don’t have much experience, I need to have an idea of what I want to do before I begin—but I’m not at the point where I feel confident enough to create a wearable look that doesn’t look too prom-y or avant-garde. It’s like I’m having a tough time finding a happy medium. Now that I got out the “Debbie Downer” in me, OH MY GOD! I love updos!

And so it happened the other day when Tareq and Michaele Salahi showed up before “crashing” the STATE DINNER at the White House right before Thanksgiving. “They were here for 7 hours,” says Gomez who did her make up while stylist Peggy Loakim placed Great Length Hair Extensions and styled her hair. “I even helped her wrap her sari!” he says. “They left from here to go directly to the White House. This is such a scandal.”

And the Bridal Challenge '09 Winner is...

Modern editor Laurel Smoke's big day finally arrived on November 14th, and with it, everyone's hair questions were answered! Our 2009 Bridal Challenge, where we visited six salons in the Chicago area to let them have their way with Laurel's hair, was a a big success. We had an overwhelming number of votes from stylists and owners on their favorite wedding 'do.
