I went with my friend Amanda to The Hair Fetish salon in Lake Bluff, Illinois, where stylist Ryan Bulava used the Keratin treatment to straighten Amanda’s hair. And wow, what a difference!

Amanda has very curly, textured hair that she always wears straightened. It takes a lot of time for her to flatiron her hair, as the Z-shaped curl is hard to smooth.
First, Ryan shampooed Amanda’s hair with Pravana’s Sulfate-Free Clarifying Shampoo. “Just a light shampoo to remove the product in her hair,” Ryan says. “You don’t want to scrub hard as it may cause scalp abrasions.”
Then, she sectioned off Amanda’s hair and began to apply the Pravana Keratin Fusion formula. She began applying at the crown, where Amanda’s curl pattern is the tightest.
Then, smooth with the spine of the comb while it processes; about 25 minutes. If more volume at the crown is desired, the formula can be processed in curlers!!
Next, rinse at the shampoo bowl, about 5 minutes, to remove the product from the hair.
Apply bonding lotion to lower the pH of the hair and reform the bonds. Be sure to thoroughly saturate the hair. Let process.
Finish blow dry using a round boar-bristle brush, adding volume at the crown if desired.
Here’s stylist Ryan with Amanda, showing off her new, shiny, straight look.
