Big Brash Hair at NY Fashion Week
There was so much unkempt hair this season on the runways in New York during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week that one would have thought the tents had been blown away—with all the hair having been picked up and thrown around in the process! That’s not to say these looks were anything but fantastic. Anyone would be shocked to know how much work goes in to creating these designs. Here are just a handful of some of our favorites.

Sensuous Styles from Artist Session
Two softly waved sensuous styles and a party-perfect updo were created by three recent participants in MODERN’s Artist Session. Here’s what inspired them. Melrose Telles says, “I wanted to do something rocker chic with different textures: sleek and tight and wild and crazy. I love the pompadour and wanted to give it a modern edge. The double-seam French twist through the back brought it up to date.” Amy West went for a “a more glamorized version of the angled bob we all know and love,” and Ruben Torres “wanted to enhance her big gorgeous curls, which I feel are an important look, not just for this season, but for every season.”
Into the Wild by Christophe Gaillet
Christophe Gaillet’s winter 2010 collection, “Into the Wild,” was created using a variety of volume and texture, combined with hair color shades of winter white. Gaillet describes these ultra feminine looks as being “on the edge of a nervous breakdown.”
