Mature Client Makeover by Marie Ferro
A large part of the clients that come into Celebrity Stylist Marie Ferro's Malibu, California salon—Marie's Hair Studio—come in wanting gray coverage. "The trick to working with mature women is enhancing their skin tone by adding depth around the face, melting tone into the midshaft and leaving the ends light and bright," says Ferro. "Creating dimension in the hair mimics what the hair did before it turned gray." Ferro says to use a maximum of three tones to make the hair muddy. Follow her steps on how to re-create this look on your mature clients. It will make them look years younger!
Subtle Ombre
This Fall/Winter Ombre created by Eva Scrivo is her interpretation of the new ombre trend that will be popping up on heads all over this season. Instead of the very dramatic, dark to very light look, Scrivo created a more gradual ombre, with less color change from roots to end. For this look she added a handful of lowlights and used a balayage technique to complete the look.

Crimped Retro Redux
KMS California has re-launched and Sonna Brado, of the KMS Artistic Team, offered MODERN a peek at how she uses the products to create new and exciting finishes. "It's a complete style and care line," she says. "The line is fantastic, designed to allow for unlimited style transformation." So what does she say about this look? "The style has a '70s influence but is crimped and tucked. It's a heavy full texture that's been randomly and inconsistently crimped. It's almost a brick-layered crimping."
