From dresses to tresses, Anne Hathaway switched it up ever time she presented with co-host James Franco at the 83rd annual Academy Awards on Sunday. From her initial red carpet loose bun, to a high ponytail to wavy/curly hair, every style she wore captured the feel of true Oscar Hollywood glamor. Between seven different looks, celebrity stylist Adir Abergel was kept very busy that night transforming her hair between presentations. MODERN brings to you the inspiration and the steps behind each look.

RED CARPET LOOK
Inspiration: A modern take of an Edwardian influenced style accented with a Bohemian flair; a soft, loose style with beautiful shine.
How to:
1. Begin by parting the hair down the center and apply a volume styler to the hair from roots to ends.
2. Blow dry the hair using a round brush.
3. Pull the hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck, making it cover the ears.
4. Next twist the ponytail into a loose knot.
5. The key is keeping this style loose-it's almost like a draping around the face with wispy pieces of hair coming out softly.
6. Finish by spraying with hair spray.

LOOK 1
Inspiration: Abergel was inspired by Rita Hayworth; he wanted to open the show with the classic glamour from the 1940s, as well as complement her Givenchy dress.
How to:
1. Start by applying a volume styler to the hair from roots to end.
2. Next add a texturizing spray gel to the roots for volume.
3.Then blow-dry the hair using the FHI Heat NANO Salon Pro 2000 dryer.
4. Take 2" sections and curl the hair away from the face with the FHI Heat EPS 1" Flatiron and place it into pin-curls.
5. After cooling, remove pin-in curls and brush the hair with a classic brush.
6. Finish the look with hair spray.

LOOK 2
Inspiration: A sleek yet flirty 1960s high-ponytail to add a feminine feel to her Lanvin tux.
How to:
1. Backcomb the perimeter of the hair line, locking the style in with hair spray.
2. Next, pull the hair into a ponytail towards the crown, wrapping it into an elastic band.
3. Use the FHI Heat KORE 1" Curling Iron at the ends to create movement and bounce.
4. For added shine, apply a gloss product.
5. Finish the look by wrapping a piece of hair (from underneath) around the base creating a sleek style.

LOOK 3
Inspiration: The modern Grace Kelly-a high bun with a gorgeous thick braid' beautiful and refined.
How to:
1. Start by creating a ponytail at the crown of the head and lock it into place.
2. Next twist the hair into a high bun and pin it into place.
3. Apply straightening balm before using the FHI Heat EPS 1" Flatiron to get the hair extremely smooth.
4. Then braid the hair.
5. Finish by wrapping the braided hair around the bun and pin into place.
6. Finally, apply hair spray.

LOOK 4
Inspiration: A tousled style.
How to:
1. Create a center part and then blow-dry the hair using the FHI Nano Salon Pro 2000 dryer with a round brush.
2. Using the FHI Heat Platform 1 1/4" styling iron, curl the hair leaving the ends out.
3. To finish the look apply wax for separation and shine.

LOOK 5
Inspiration: Side swept low bun with volume and texture to complement her red Versace gown.
How to:
1. Apply some wave spray to the hair.
2. Add random waves throughout the hair.
3. Pull the hair back into a low loose side bun.
4. Spray with hair spray.

LOOK 6
Inspiration: A Veronica Lake Hollywood Glamour style; sleek straight with a touch of a wave to compliment the Armani deep blue and purple dress Anne wore at the end of the night.
How to:
1. Create a deep side part and apply straightening balm.
2. Flatiron the hair and then take a 2" section in the front and create a wave.
3. Apply a gloss product for added shine.

LOOK 7
Inspiration: A simplistic and effortless look.
How to:
1. Apply a lifting and texturizing spray gel at the roots and dry the hair with the FHI Heat Nano Salon Pro 2000.
2. Then pull the hair into a low ponytail and apply glossing cream.
3. Secure the ponytail with a clear elastic.
4. Then wrap a piece of hair around the base of the ponytail and secure with pins.
5. Finish by rolling the ponytail under and pin it into place.
6. Finish off with hairspray.

Princess Rena Oh geez, those outfits are absolutely terrible. i would say the most flattering hair style for her is the one on the far right. i like the full on smoothness yet fullness of her hair, and the little shape it has at the bottom. the rest of the hair styles are a bit too slicked back or tousled for my taste.
Beth Nadeau Anne Hathaway would look good in a paper bag! Like them all!!

Christine Ruggaber-Wood The "down" style with the beachy waves looks AMAZING, but not sure if it's Oscar appropriate. The up-do on the left looks like it's not smoothed enough, but who knows how much time he had to put it up! And she really DOES look great all the time, a classic beauty!
