ARTIST SESSION, Modern's exclusive seminar and photoshoot experience, held its third session which turned out to be another success. Salon owners and stylists from around the US gathered to learn how to break in to the freelance world of hairstyling. In addition to learning the in's and out's of the studio world, each artist selected a model (from a casting of more than 50 top NY models) and then prepared her for the set. The hair was complemented by a beautiful David Maderich make up design and an Elke Von Freudenberg brow finish. Top beauty photographer Roberto Ligresti then captured the look for these artists to use in their salons, at their stations or in their portfolios.

The two day event had many highlights, but according to all, the best surprise came when Oribe HIMSELF walked into the studio to give the stylists some pointers on what to expect in the photo session world. Balancing the education were presentations by industry icons: Jayne Morehouse, President of Morehouse Communications, on the importance of Public Relations and Russell Halley, President of Halley Resources, on how to break in to the free lance styling industry.

"This class was above and beyond all expectations," said first time attendee Jose Buitron, owner of the Jose Luis Salon in Austin, Texas. "It made me more excited about my career than I have been in years. This class gave me inspiration, motivation, a new spirit and renewed passion. I got to enjoy what being a great hairdresser is all about."

The Artist Session Goody Bag (a coveted Oribe carrying case) was filled with new and exciting products from some of the key manufacturers in the industry. Included were items from: AQUAGE, ART 43 BEDHEAD TIGI Control Freak, BIG SEXY HAIR, BIO IONIC , Cat Cosmetics, CATWALK, Comfort Zone, Davines, Denman, FHI Heat, HairUWear/HairDo, HOT TOOLS (Helen of Troy), JOICO, KIS (Kreative. Innovative. Smart.), Liquid Style, Minardi, MIRABELLA, Monroe, NIOXIN, OPI, Oribe, Paul Mitchell, Pencil Me In, PHYTO, Pravana ,Pureology, Redken, Rene Furterer, RUSK, So.Cap USA, THERMAFUSE and WELLA System Professional.

"This was my favorite of all the Artist Sessions," said Salvatore Minardi , a repeater and owner of the Salvatore Minardi Salon in Madison, New Jersey. "This program is clearly making me a better session artist and has given me great knowledge and gorgeous pictures to put up in my salon and on my website. I'll be back."
