How do I sell pedicures in cold weather?

Warm them up with winter pedicures, advises Suzi Weiss-Fischmann.

"Pedicures are a matter of both fashion and hygiene," says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI's executive vice president and creative director.

"Over the past five years sandals have become a fashion staple, and foot and toenail health has been receiving media attention."

To market pedicures in cold weather, Weiss-Fischmann advises combining services in a single-priced bundle, i.e., a manicure with a pedicure, or a blow dry with a pedicure. Get creative with a winter pedicure menu that may include warming masks, extra massage or special seasonal color combos.

According to Weiss-Fischmann, pedicures have really become affordable at all income levels, so there's no reason not to promote the service. "If you can get a client in the chair and expose them to a great pedicure, they'll be hooked!"

Educate your clients about the hygienic necessity of a pedicure, for both men and women, and give them a relaxing experience in the midst of their busy lives and you will fill your pedicure chairs in the colder months.

And for women who know fashion, they'll be back no matter the temperature, Weiss-Fischmann adds.
