A beloved industry leader and mentor, Alex Irving passed away on December 14, 2021, in San Marcos, CA.

Alex Irving was the co‐owner of California‐based Esche & Alexander Public Relations, Inc. with his wife and business partner, Sharon Esche Irving. Alex was best known in the professional beauty industry for his experience in business communications, his achievements as a producer of many events, his effective work with the industry media, and his deep and long‐time relationships with his respected clients and industry friends.
Alex loved the salon industry and everything about it. He was especially devoted to his ongoing work with individuals, associations, organizations, and businesses who were themselves, devoted to ensuring the career and business success of the beauty industry professional. He was proud to have worked with non‐profits, and to be among the co‐founders of the Professional Beauty Federation of California (PBFC) whose mission and ‘industry voice’ is something he strongly believed in. Most recently, Alex was also a PR consultant to the Board of Certified Haircolorists and prior to that, a long‐time devotee to the American Board of Certified Haircolorists. He was also a member of the Professional Beauty Association (PBA).
Before ‘doubling the dynamics’ at Esche & Alexander in the early 90’s, Alex was Founder, President and Executive Producer for New York‐based ATI Multi‐Media Communications. He was the proud recipient of numerous Gold and Silver awards at the prestigious International Film and Television Festival of New York for business communications excellence on behalf of his Fortune 1000 clients.
Alex Irving is survived by his wife, Sharon Irving, his sister, Kate Irving, his daughter Adrienne Haywood and grandson John Nicolai (Nico) Dillon, his sister‐in‐law Terry Esche, his brother‐in‐law Bill Esche, and his brother‐in‐law Jim Esche and wife, Debbie.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center which serves adults with developmental disabilities. This was a cause very close to Alex’s heart for which he served as Board Chair and a member of the Board of Trustees for many years.
