American Crew recently announced the finalists in the 2013 American Crew All-Star Challenge, the global competition to find the best men’s hair stylist in the world. After evaluating hundreds of entries on their interpretations of the “American Crew Man,” the judges selected the looks created by two up-and-coming stars (Bradford Davison, Hannah Schnobrich) and last year’s U.S. winner (Patrick Chai) as the three finalists. The U.S. winner will be announced in Denver on November 3 during Opening Night, the year’s biggest celebration of men’s hair styling. Opening Night sponsors include Goldyn and 303 Magazine. Get tickets for Opening Night today at americancrew.com/openingnight.
The three finalists have won airfare and accommodations for them and a guest to Opening Night, a complete set of American Crew tools, a finalist plaque and the opportunity for press interviews. Plus, the winner will take home $5,000, and the second and third place winners take home $2,000 each. The winner’s work will be featured in a 2014 American Crew trade advertisement, and the winner will have the opportunity to be selected as one of the 15 finalists to represent their countries at the American Crew Global All-Star Challenge.
“For almost 20 years, American Crew has provided inspiration and education to the stylist community to help them build their men's business,” says Craig Hanson, American Crew’s creative director. “The American Crew All-Star Challenge honors those who have partnered with us by allowing their voices to be heard on a global level. It's humbling to see the influence we've had, as these three finalists have depicted the American Crew man with such skill and refinement. They have clearly demonstrated both their artistic and technical abilities in a way that makes us proud. I'm impressed by their vision and look forward to meeting them in person at Opening Night when we announce the lucky winner!”
Judges include a team of men’s styling, fashion and editorial experts, including Hanson, GQ magazine’s Peter St. John, AskMen.com’s fashion and grooming editor Sachin Bhola, Sergio Garcia from the Men’s Division of LA Models, and BehindTheChair’s founding editor/senior editorial consultant Jackie Summers.
Countries around the world are conducting their own All-Star Challenge competitions. Each country will submit its representative to the global judging panel, who will pick the top 15 finalists to compete in the global competition in April 2014. The 15 global finalists will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to compete for the ultimate prize—the title of American Crew All-Star Challenge Grand Champion. Finalists also win a shoot with internationally renowned photographer David Roemer, top model selection, and professional wardrobe and grooming, the opportunity to compete for the global title and international respect in men’s hairstyling.
