With roughly 2 million new marriages recorded every year, the interest in finding a good place to live is surely high. But are any places better than others in providing the right setting for young couples to thrive? Where can you meet other newlyweds in a similar stage of life? Are there some cities that offer more opportunities than others for fun and exploration?
Because we feature the wonderful work of so many uber-talented bridal stylists, we thought this report from self-storage search website StorageCafe might be interesting!
StorageCafe conducted a study taking into account housing and career opportunities, romance and quality of life. According to what they found, you should be heading to medium-sized cities. They dominate the list due to their balanced mix of features ideal for newlyweds.
StorageCafe took data on the largest U.S. cities with populations of over 200K and compared them across 15 metrics. The study used a 25-44 year-old age bracket to identify the most likely population to get married, since it includes millennials, the generation most likely to marry. Additionally, StorageCafe was able to identify their household income based on a similar age grouping from the U.S. Census.
Arlington, Virginia, is the best city for newlyweds, thanks to a combination of factors including lasting marriages, housing, employment, and recreation.
California and Arizona also boast two cities that rank high for supporting married life.
Mid-size cities were generally able to score more points for their balanced mix of features ideal for newlyweds. Seattle, WA, is the only city with a population of over 500K to crack the top 10.
The East Coast and the West Coast top the charts, being home to nine of the 10 best cities for new couples in 2022.
Lincoln, Nebraska is the only Midwestern city to make the top 10.
At the other end of the spectrum, the 10 worst cities for newlyweds to live in are:
Detroit, MI
Cleveland, OH
Memphis, TN
Newark, NJ
