TONI&GUY global creative director, Cos Sakkas, has won the title of International Hairdresser of the Year for the third consecutive year. Sakkas is the first hairdresser to clinch the title three times. Presented by International Hairdressing Awards founder Mikel Luzea and global ambassador Sergi Bancells as he was working in Cyprus, he adds this award to his current British Hairdresser of the Year title, which he won for the second time this year. TONI&GUY clinched two other awards — Efi Davies won International Avant Garde Hairdresser of the Year with her HandMade collection, and Sam Elliott, who was named International Men’s Hairdresser of the Year with images from his Boys Don’t Cry collection.
“This is incredible, I am speechless, and I am honored to win this again. This award isn’t just for me but for my family, my team photographer Jack Eames, Lan Nguyen-Grealis on make-up, styling by Borna Prikaski, and the whole TONI&GUY global team. My Luminescent collection is super focused on hair and hair textures, keeping everything simple is my style with femininity through the shapes, but at the same time adding those little twists that make it interesting. It’s all the little ingredients that make it exciting.”
— Cos Sakkas, TONI&GUY Global Creative Director
The winners were revealed on a worldwide tour, where Mikel and Sergi visited salons and hairdressers to present the awards in LA, London, and Sydney. The winners will be invited to a special event in Lisbon on April 29th where they will walk the purple carpet, view a catwalk presentation, enjoy dinner, and pick up the Purple Lady trophy. The event is sponsored by Revlon Professional, Salon Look, The Hair MBA, Artero, and Estetica Magazine.
