If you’ve kept up with my blog, you already know by now that I have a slight obsession with tan skin.
But I'm trying desperately to break the tanning-bed addiction. I've tried everything from bronzers to tan-in-a-can to gradual lotions to you name it; they all work, but don't last long.
Well, I can safely say I've found a REAL solution this time. And a new addiction. Airbrush Spray Tanning.
It can get expensive, but my tanning salon offers $10 Wicked Wednesdays-compared to the usual price of $30 for a full tan. AMAZING. I spoke with the owner yesterday and she says she brings in SO much business on this promotional day than on any other day that she plans to keep Wicked Wednesdays going year round.

Ok. Well, there is one.small.thing I hate about airbrush tanning.
Let me rewind.
The reason I love tanning in a tanning bed is because I really dislike tan lines-and, in a tanning bed, no one knows you're in your birthday suit and no one can see you. Therefore, nudie = no tan lines.
<<-----Me with my cousin Jessica after my spray.
Now, I wouldn't call myself modest, but I would never in a million years go streaking or moon someone who I didn't know on a personal level. And I reallllllly wanted to try airbrush tanning. And I reallllllllly didn't want tan lines. And, the salon recommends tanning in the buff for best results.
Ohmahgosh. I was freaking-out-nervous. Am I the only one who would fret about disrobing in front of a total stranger?
I had a week to prepare for the experience. I worked out every day after work and ate Lean Cuisines for every meal. I was a total nutcase. I exfoliated with my favorite Dermalogica exfoliator every morning. And I talked about how nervous I was to be nudie in front of the airbrush lady. All the time. To everyone. Nonstop.
I know for sure that I spent at least 172-times more time talking about being nude in front of the airbrush lady than I actually spent being nude in front of the airbrush lady.
I was horrified to do it, but I did it. And I'm SO proud of myself. The airbrush lady, who, by the way, is named Amanda, was super nice to me and was totally reassuring through the whole thing. She walked me through it and told me the different positions to be in, and, before I knew it, it was over.
I pre-booked my next appointment for the following week before I left the salon. I love, love, love it and there's no risk of skin damage involved!
How do you reassure your clients through first-time experiences like airbrush tanning or bikini waxing, for example? Have you ever tried airbrush tanning?Do you offer it in your salon?
