Kasey Rials (@kasey.hair) from House of Color Hair Studio, Colorado Springs, Colorado, says, "My client came in with a really grown out ombre (over a year old!) and wanted to try out some deeper, rich tones for winter. After combing through her hair I came to the conclusion that we should not use any lightener on it, as her hair is very curly and fragile. We were going to have to work with the canvas that we had!" Rials was up for the challenge by melting 2 shades.
Here she shares the how-to:

Step 1: To the root area apply Kenra Demi-Permanent 5B + 7NB (equal parts).
Step 2: Melt down into a 7BC with 1/16 ounce Olaplex #1 on the ends, where her previous ombré was. Alternate taking the root color down really low, about an inch from the ends of her hair and then melting the 7BC higher on some sections, like 3-4 inches from her ends hoping to create more of a "balayage" feel.
Step 3: Process according the manufacturers instructions.
"The end result was stunning! A rich chocolate brown melted into a golden, almost copper dark blonde. She had never had her hair colored darker before and she LOVED it."
