“We chose Essie’s new gel couture polish in "fairy tailor", a lovely nude pink, to pair with Kate’s stunning Dolce & Gabbana gown. A very classy color for the classiest lady,” said Celebrity Manicurist, Katherine St. Paul Hill.

Last night's Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City, or the only Monday we look forward to the entire year, set the scene for gowns and garbs following (more or less) this year's theme “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology," in accordance to the museum's new exhibit of the same name.
Known as "the party of the year" among those in the fashion industry and beyond, Essie seized the opportunity to debut its new line of Gel Couture polish. The brand has always sought inspiration from fashion, so where better to introduce the no-lamp-gel line?

First off, the bottle itself was designed to look like a twirling dress, matching many of the gowns' movement last night. The bottle also benefits the nail professional by fitting perfectly in one's hand. A patent-pending swirl stem brush with a tapered cut ensures even color application that is designed for a slower polish drip. The brush itself differs from typical Essie polish brushes by being wider and flatter.
The new bottle shape holds a new shade, "Model Citizen".
With 42 new shades, the line is categorized into four fashion-inspired color groupings: "atelier", which includes 12 soft neutrals; "first look", with six pretty pastels; "fashion show", 12 bright, eye-catching shades; and "after party", 12 decadent deep hues.
Gel-like shine and longevity (up to 14 days) is achieved through a 2-step system: step 1 is two coats of any of the colors, and step 2 is a high-gloss top coat that is universal for the collection.
At the Met Ball, Kate Bosworth, Elle Fanning and Katie Homes wore new Gel Couture shades to compliment their gowns on the red carpet. Click through the slideshow to see what they wore and the nail polish look they paired with it.
