At the most recent LBP (Luxury Brand Partners) Innovation Summit held in Carmel, California, MODERN met with Coral Pleas, owner of the Cutting Loose Salons (3 in Sarasota, Florida and one in Somers, Connecticut). Pleas works with a total of 65 pros and has learned that the most successful people exercise certain practices on a regular basis. Here she shares her tips to excellence to new stylists entering the salon and spa world.
In a nutshell:
1. Practice. Work on mannequins when not busy.
2. Surround yourself with (and learn from) mentors.
3. Dress for the job you WANT, not the job you HAVE.
4. Expose yourself to high end experiences including 5 star hotels and top restaurants.
