GLAMPING definition: a portmanteau of glamour and camping with amenities and, in some cases, resort-style services.

Instead of hard ground and cold sleeping bags, hipsters are camping out or “glamping” in tents that have feather beds with comfy blankets, and, get this, toilets that actually flush. At Ventana in Big Sur, glampers sleep deeply on custom-designed glamping mattresses and premium linens in safari-style tents with views of the 20-acre canyon. Amenities include teak-enclosed showers, daily housekeeping service and morning coffee and tea. Promotional literature describes it as a luxury camping experience, and it’s a trend that’s only getting bigger.

Always on the cutting edge, celebrity stylist and pioneer in the art of feng shui beauty, Billy Yamaguchi brings “glamping” to the world of beauty, a decision that proves the theory that necessity is the mother of invention. Recently Yamaguchi accepted an offer to take up residence at a state-of-the-art salon and spa under construction at The Stonehaus at the Westlake Village Inn, a luxury retreat destination in Westlake Village, CA. The timing was perfect since his contract with The Four Seasons had just expired. The only hitch? How to service his clients while the new facility was being built. The solution: Install the hair and makeup trailer used on the set of The Avengers right on the property.

With custom lighting, spacious countertops, salon chairs and lots of storage, the trailer allows Yamaguchi and his staff of talented hairdressers, nail technicians and skin care professionals to offer the same exceptional services and attention to detail their clients have come to expect as part of the Yamaguchi Lifestyle.

Yamaguchi at the Inn is scheduled to open in late December, 2019, but in the meantime, clients can enjoy services in a bright, comfortable environment with a real Hollywood back story.
