Jane Iredale's Kevin Mendelson is busy this season perfecting brides and teaching other make up artists HOW TO create flattering photo ready finishes, ideal for the event and for the photos to memorialize the wedding.

"Most professional make up artists try to give a lot more color pay off to the lips so that the bride will have less touch up throughout the day," he says. "It's always best to use a color stay product...ideally one that smells great."

Mendelson uses a chocolately pink shade from the Lip Fixations line that offers "a minimal amount of shimmer, and it's always best to use as a stain." Using a shade a bit darker than the natural shade, Mendelson prefers using a brush to help "press the color in to the lip."

For gloss, Mendelson uses the dedicated gloss that comes with the shade. "Most bride lips look better with a light gloss," he says. "But for pictures its best not to overdo it."

TIPS:

-select a shade that is a bit darker than the bride's natural shade.

-Use a stain, followed by gloss. ("This requires minimal touch up throughout the reception.")

-use a brush for application which allows you to press the color into the lips.

-select a base shade with a mininal amount of shimmer.

-be careful how much gloss is used ("it can lose the structure of the mouth")
