What began as a fundraiser celebrating beauty and wellness education has evolved into a philanthropic movement uniting industry leaders, beauty and wellness professionals and NEXTGEN talent. On Saturday, March 12, 2016, the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation (BCL) in partnership with America’s Beauty Show by Cosmetologists Chicago and Pivot Point will present the 4th Annual BCL Experience at Soldier Field, Chicago. The immersive, experiential evening will bring together beauty and wellness professionals to celebrate the industry’s spirit of creativity, lifelong learning and commitment to nurturing NEXTGEN professionals while raising funds for beauty and wellness scholarships administered by the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation.
Legacy award honors a legend in skincare, Howard Murad, M.D.
A highlight of the evening will be an elegant dinner paying tribute to Dr. Howard Murad, the 2016 Legacy award recipient. The founder of Murad, LLC and a pioneer in creating the inclusive health movement, Dr. Murad will become the first skin care professional to be honored with the Legacy award. Previous award recipients include Vidal Sassoon (presented posthumously in 2012), Tippi Hedren (2013), and Leo Passage (presented posthumously in 2015). Dr. Murad is a long-time supporter of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation, and Murad, LLC sponsored the first BCL scholarship exclusively for skin care professionals. “I am extremely honored to be this year’s recipient of the Beauty Changes Lives Legacy Award. Beauty Changes Lives is such a wonderful organization and, on behalf of everyone at Murad, I would like to say we are proud to support such an important mission. ”
Get Ready to “Shout Your Beauty!”
Presentation of the Legacy award and dinner will be followed by the hallmark of the evening—“Shout Your Beauty!”—an evocative runway presentation powered by Pivot Point celebrating beauty industry NEXTGEN talent. The “Shout Your Beauty” runway parade will engage social and digital channels to amplify and extend the BCL Evening experience beyond the confines of Soldier Field. Leading up to the event and throughout the evening audiences are encouraged to post photos showing how their beauty challenges social norms on Instagram or Twitter. And paying their passion forward, Pivot Point will donate $1 to the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation for each photo posted using the hashtags #BEAUTYCHANGESLIVES and #SHOUTYOURBEAUTY.”
Beauty Changes Lives President Lynelle Lynch said America’s Beauty Show is a natural venue to introduce the “Shout Your Beauty” campaign. “Over the past few years, Beauty Changes Lives has presented the annual Legacy award honoring acclaimed industry leaders and we’ve received a tremendous response from manufacturers, media, celebrity hairstylists and thousands of beauty and wellness professionals,” Lynch said. “We’re thrilled to take this event to a new level that celebrates how beauty and wellness changes lives for individuals across the professional spectrum,” she said.
The “Shout Your Beauty” campaign was birthed by Pivot Point on behalf of BCL and inspired by the mindset of the NEXTGEN, it reflects the spirit of a generation who demands their voices to be heard. The BCL Experience will unleash the NEXTGEN’s creative voice to demonstrate not only how beauty has changed their lives but also their commitment to using beauty to impact the lives of others. While the “Shout Your Beauty” movement will be launched at the 4th Annual BCL Experience, it will be extended and amplified throughout the year in advertising, social media, and through special events, including “Shout Your Beauty Day!” in August 2016.
Uniting and connecting the beauty and wellness industry
“Cosmetologists Chicago is proud to welcome the BCL Experience back to America’s Beauty Show on March 12, 2016,” said President Denise Provenzano. For more than 100 years, our association has educated, protected and supported the salon professional, salon owners and students. We have ‘shouted our beauty’ loud and clear for all those years! We also want to welcome everyone in beauty to America’s Beauty Show and our hometown Chicago.”
“America’s Beauty Show by Cosmetologists Chicago,” added Paul Dykstra, CEO, “is the natural venue for hosting the BCL Experience. We are pleased to honor Dr. Murad and his legacy of education for skin care professionals in this way. More than 50,000 beauty professionals and students come to Chicago for America’s Beauty Show each year! What better place to ‘shout your beauty’?”
Support a party with a purpose
“It is an honor and a privilege to introduce the “Shout Your Beauty” campaign at America’s Beauty Show. We look forward to working with our partners and the passionate beauty and wellness professionals who live out every day the message that beauty changes lives,” said Lynch.
A portion of proceeds from the BCL Experience will benefit the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation. General admission tickets ($75) and VIP tickets ($125) are available at www.shoutyourbeauty.com. To-date media and corporate sponsors of the BCL Evening include founding media partner Modern Salon, Bellus Academy, CND, Massage Envy, Matrix, Mizani, MUD, Redken, Revlon Professional and Wella Salon Professional. Package sponsorships including a glamorous “Beauty’s Take on Tailgating” reception for VIP patrons and custom sponsorship opportunities are available.
