Avlon Industries
has re-packaged its entire KeraCare line
and has undergone a total facelift! Originally recognized in its white
packaging with black and coral lettering, KeraCare has now transitioned
into pearlized champagne and pearlized teal-colored packaging decorated
with metallic gold and pastel colors with black lettering.

Along with
the new packaging, Avlon has upgraded most of their products with
gentler detergents for the hair and scalp, ingredients that are more
moisturizing to the hair, and revised preservatives, which are safer to
the consumer. KeraCare products do not contain formaldehyde or its
derivatives and now, most of their products do not contain sulfates,
parabens, mineral oil, phthalates or petrolatum.
I tried out
these products and there were a few that I really liked in particular:

The
Dry & Itchy Scalp Shampoo and Conditioner: First thing I
noticed was the sky blue colored shampoo! It matches the bottle! I used a
generous amount of this product in my hair and it instantly started
softening my hair. The trick is you have to use a good amount of it
(about a half dollar size if you have long hair to your shoulders; less
if you have shorter hair). If you use too little of this product you
will not feel the entire conditioning effect the shampoo can offer.
Right after shampooing, I used the conditioner, which helps rehydrate
and rebuild hair fiber's outer structure to help minimize breakage. The
conditioner is gentle enough be used on relaxed, permed, color-treated
or natural hair.
Glossifier: If your clients are really
suffering from dry scalp, dandruff, etc. pass them one of these. Tell
them to apply this gel-like product to their scalp at least twice a
week. It helps preserve the scalp's natural moisture balance, and it
feels very soothing and cooling!

Hydrating
Detangling Shampoo and Conditioner: Just like the Dry and Itchy scalp
shampoo and conditioner, the shampoo for this collection matches its
bottle and comes out gold! The same goes with this line-use a generous
amount to get the full effect. The nice thing about the shampoo is it
removes excess oils from hairs without stripping your hair. Both the
shampoo and conditioner in this collection smell really good too! For
the conditioner, (along with the Dry and Itchy Scalp,) comb through the
conditioner and cover hair with a plastic cap for best results. Leave on
hair for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse.
Oil Sheen with
Humidity Block (See product in top photo): This product can give
your clients that natural-looking sheen they crave, ONLY if they don't
use too much of this product. Otherwise, it's going to look greasy.
However, if you go over your entire head for like 3 seconds with this
spray, it leaves hair
soft and light. The Sheen
contains a blend of olive oil, carrot oil and herbal extracts. Make sure
to hold the can 10 to 12 inches away from your client's head and to
spray evenly.

Silken
Seal Liquid Sheen: Rather than spray this on the hair while its dry
(which is what you do with the oil sheen) spray this on your client's
hair while it's wet. It helps seal the hair's cuticle to prevent
moisture loss, it combats humidity and it helps protect hair from
ultraviolet light.
Silken Seal Blow-Drying Complex:
Distribute about a dime size amount of this product in your clients'
hair to also create sheen and shininess. Rather than the Liquid Sheen
this is more syrupy and goes on hair a little heavier for extra moisture
action.
Tune in next time for more product reviews!
