Nelson Chan

Nelson j Salon in Beverly Hills is on Bedford Drive, surely one of the most beautifying boulevards in all of Beverly Hills. Lining the street are nail spas, eyelash salons, brow grooming palaces and blow dry bars. Inside Nelson j, clients can access all these services in one place. Owner Nelson Chan recently introduced a Touch Up Bar for time-crunched clients.

"People want quick, convenient service," explained Chan. "Their lifestyle requires them to get things accomplished quickly. It's not a spa--they want to get it done, they want to look good and they want to get going."

Manicures (by Gloria Martinez) and makeup (by celebrity artist Bobbe Joy Dawson)are also on offer.

"We do a lot of color changes here, so having makeup really helps to complete the experience," says Chan.

Martinez offers free hand massages as a way to remind clients that nail services are on the menu.  "It gives me a chance to talk about what we offer and also for them to get to know me," she says.

Stylist Richard Huerta says many clients work in Beverly Hills and are popping in on their lunch breaks. "Some come for blow dry services twice a week, color touch-ups every two weeks and a manicure once a week.  They love knowing they'll have a wonderful experience and one that won't take all day."

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You

In Dubai, a salon visit isn’t an appointment. It’s a weekly routine, and clients can spend $800 to $1,400 a month on it, according to Gaurav Tripathi of MADI International. On October 6-8, 2026, the market behind those numbers opens its doors as Beautyworld Dubai marks its 30th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together distributors, brands, stylists and salon owners from all over the world.
