While Jon Kailey in Wilmette, Illinois, usually is closed on a Monday, owner Estelle Bouras found herself at the salon ready to give Alison Alhamed of Modern Salon Media a tour. Bouras knew she was a finalist in Salon Today’s Total Salon Makeover competition, but she didn’t realize she was about to get the surprise of her life.

As Bouras graciously led Alhamed on the tour which was being captured on Periscope, Alhamed handed her a framed certificate and announced that Jon Kailey was the competition’s 2015 winner. “I was so shocked,” Bouras says. “It was so exciting.”

As the winner of the competition designed to help its winners grow their business to the next level, Bouras and her team will receive more than $30,000 in prizes from Total Salon Makeover’s generous sponsors.

Keratin Complex will gift the salon with its full retail collection, fully stocked backbar, and full Color Therapy product portfolio, as well as a comprehensive marketing and education package. STX offers the salon a complete salon management system, including hardware and software. Takara Belmont steps in with a new front desk or furniture/equipment for another area of the salon, as well as interior design consulting services. And, Strategies rounds out the prize package with a business assessment and makeover plan, working with the owner and team to implement change and coach them to measurable success.

Stay tuned! In the coming months, as Bouras begins working with each company, we’ll share her stories of transformation on salontoday.com and through the pages of Salon Today magazine. But for now, watch the Periscope where Bouras is surprised by her win!
