Allyson and Shannon King hosted an opening night soiree on November 11, 2015, celebrating the launch of Hair & Co BKLYN, their new salon in the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. The industry power couple have been building anticipation for the opening on the salon’s blog, sharing news of the freshly-built salon team’s work at New York Fashion Week and dropping quick how-to videos. They were already building cred before the space was even open, posting:
“We have officially finished the first salon training for Hair & Co BKLYN! We couldn’t be more excited about our team and the amazing hair they are ready to share with Brooklyn. Thank you to Leah Scherer, a world-class educator from Keune for delivering this amazing and thorough two day training. Now get ready to meet Drew, Mary, Christine, Jenni, Franklin, Toniann, Serena, Chad and us.”
The hair team at Hair & Co BKLYN stresses the importance of training and collaboration, as well as knowing the client – her personality, goals and style – to create a look that will fit her lifestyle. They emphasize a multicultural approach, promising to “master all textures of hair as diverse as our community in Brooklyn.” In Allyson King's latest MODERN SALON blog, she shared insights into the mission and goals of the brand, noting that the salon will have at least one expert in each category: color, cutting, finishing, barbering, natural hair, straightening and pinups. They are color-strong, with a color barista specialist and color bar that serves as the centerpiece of the salon.
