Since the age of ten he has cut hundreds of thousands of images, and worked both small
scale portraits to large projects with big name designers like Jonathan Adler, Amy Coe
and Irvine & Fleming.
Master scissor artist, Karl John, specializes in silhouette art, a craft that has allowed
him to work with many Hollywood celebrities like Jennifer Garner, Alicia Keyes, Leah
Remini and the entire cast and crew of "How I Met Your Mother." His work also appeared
in Spiderman 3 and soon to be released film, Black Swan with Natalie Portman.
His silhouettes are so detailed and precise that he can capture the small aspects of any hair
style. One of the reasons why his work is so exacting comes from only being able to see out
of one eye. Because he was born deprived of binocular vision, he had to learn how to judge
the distance of objects by examining their shadows and rendering images from them. Cool!
