Makeup artist David Maderich provides a sneak peek into the highly anticipated springtime event.

Each May, New York City makeup artists have flocked to the annual beauty extravaganza that is The Makeup Show. Sadly, the Covid crisis tossed a wrench of delays into the annual premier powder and paint show, but I’m here to announce the show is returning to New York City May 1-2.
As a makeup artist myself, I cannot wait to put on my designer duds and mingle with my fellow makeup artists, explore new products, and learn new techniques—not to mention having the feeling of being surrounded by all things beauty.
The Makeup Show prides itself as a beauty experience for any artist at any stage of their career. Even after 20 years in the industry, I am thrilled to discover much needed inspiration and be introduced to new products and techniques. Top on my list is the opportunity to elevate my career by learning from the best of the best in the industry. Taking the stage in New York City to share their knowledge in workshops, demos, and keynote speeches are James Molloy, Jon Hennessey, James Vincent, and Jessica Smalls.
At past shows, I’ve learned from my pro peers a bevy of beauty shortcuts, including new ways to execute a cut crease, applying seamless foundation with a Beauty Blender, and how to contour and highlight the face with foundation. The business classes have taught me proper ways to handle a bridal contract, techniques to negotiate rates, and the do's and don’ts of proper set etiquette.
If you’ve come to shop, you won’t be disappointed, because the show has more than 50 professional and luxury brand companies, including Danessa Myricks Beauty, Make Up For Ever, Cozzette Beauty, MYKITCO, Kevyn Aucoin, and Cinema Secrets—all at industry discounts.
If you cannot make it to New York City, The Makeup Show will be bringing its beauty experience to Long Beach, California, in October 2022.
