Van Court Studio wants to be New York City's healthy nail destination. Opening Saturday, March 5, the nail salon will only use five- or nine-free nail lacquers, medical-grade sterilized equipment, natural products and structured-salaried nail technicians.
Ruth Kallens, the nail salon's founder, and Jessica Washick, its creative director, were inspired to make a change for the better for the NYC nail scene after reading the NY Times article that detailed the hazardous working conditions and mistreatment of nail technicians in NYC nail salons.
Product partners will include brands such as Deborah Lippmann, Londontown, Ginger+Liz, LVX, RGB and more.
Natural product focuses beyond polishes include tankless pedicure bowls, no gels or acrylics and a state of the art water purification system.
As for sustainable working conditions, Van Court Studio will emphasize fair wages, ethical work shifts and small business product partners.
