Win Beauty Solutions has acquired Modern Salon Services, a professional beauty distributor based in Kansas City, MO, with 22 distributor salon consultants and six showrooms. Founded by industry veteran Anthony Cox, this education-focused company operates in seven states — Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. Earlier this year, Win Beauty Solutions acquired Largo, FL-based Life of Riley Salon Supply, and Bolivar, MO-based Classic Beauty Supply.
“I founded Modern Salon Services 25 years ago as one of the first mid-sized boutique distributors serving the upper end of the market with prestige brands with an eco-friendly, sustainable focus. We are proudly one of the longest-standing Davines partner distributors in the world, having represented the brand for more than 20 years. We also offer Alter Ego Italy, REF, and the tool brand O2.”

Cox got his start in the professional beauty business as a DSC for Maly’s Los Angeles, where he quickly became the top sales rep. There, he worked for Scott Missad, who is now the CEO of Win Beauty Solutions. Four years later, Cox was recruited to start the first American Crew distributorship, which he operated in Los Angeles for the next five years. At that point, he sold the distributorship to John Maly, owner of Maly’s West, and moved home to Kansas City, where he launched Modern Salon Services.
“I’ve come full circle,” explains Cox. “When one of your first bosses (Missad) walks through the door and invites you to join a much bigger network with a philosophy that puts the salon owner and hairdresser at the center of the business, you pay attention. This is not about selling out but selling in. I will continue to operate Modern Salon Services with the same team, the same culture, identity and the same brands, with a greater ability and economies of scale to take care of my team and our customers.”
“Our goal at Win Beauty Solutions is to become a national group of distribution brands that are considered the go-to distributors for professional hairdressers and salon owners alike," added Missad. "What’s different is that each distributor keeps its own distinct identity, culture, and brands, and can achieve more than they could ever do on their own, thanks to Win’s strategies, experience and economies of scale. Modern Salon Services excels in the luxury market, which matches our DNA, and we are very excited to now have a burgeoning relationship with Davines, one of the preeminent brands in the market.”
