Milady, part of Cengage Learning and a leading provider of beauty and wellness learning solutions, and the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS), today announced that Dorothy McKinley-Soressi was awarded the 2010 N.F. Cimaglia Award on October 30.
The AACS Past President’s Club established the N.F. Cimaglia Award in 1975 to recognize continuous outstanding service with the beauty industry and cosmetology education. To be eligible for the award, the candidate must be a past AACS president, a board member of the All American Beauty Culture Schools Associated, National-American Cosmetology Schools or American Association of Cosmetology Schools or have at least 25 continuous years in the industry. Underwritten by Milady, the 2010 award was presented to McKinley-Soressi during the opening session of the 2010 AACS convention in Orlando, FL.
Winner McKinley-Soressi , Vice President of Industry Relations for Empire Education Group, has been involved in various areas of the industry throughout her 33-year career, but one of her most important roles was serving as the Director of AACS and Chair to the Cosmetology Educators of America (CEA) committee.
During her five-year tenure, she drove record-breaking attendance records for the CEA Annual Convention, granting record numbers of our nation’s cosmetology teachers access to outstanding cosmetology education. McKinley-Soressi continues to help the industry by serving in an academic position on the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences (NACCAS). In that role, she served on the Standards and Policies Committee and as a member of the Educational Quality and Compliance Committee.
“We are proud to present Dorothy McKinley-Soressi with this year’s N.F. Cimaglia Award,” said Dawn Gerrain, president, Milady. “Ms. McKinley-Soressi embodies the true drive and dedication that this industry thrives on and evolves from. Her commitment has affected monumental reforms to cosmetology education.”
