It’s been quite a year for Rose Renda, owner of the Second Glance Salon in Edison, New Jersey. Within the past year she has earned a Modern Salon cover, won the totally fabulous Pravana contest, did all the hair for a movie (more about that in a later blog) and created stunning looks for dozens of brides and their parties just about every weekend.

(Houston, Texas)– Farouk Shami was visiting with the Mayor of Laredo, Texas when he was notified of the tragic shootings that left 13 people dead and approximately 30 wounded in Fort Hood, Texas. He immediately made a call to CEO Rami Shami and President Shauky Gulamani with a plan of action to respond to this catastrophe. Executives gathered in Houston, Texas last night to make preparations to send care packages to the soldiers, families and hospitals affected by the horrific attack.

Tyson Daniel, salon owner and member of the Pureology Network as a Pure Artist, embraces the time when women were ladies and men were gentlemen. “I love that old world charm—especially when blended with a modern-day lifestyle,” says Daniel. He designed a collection called “Romance,” entered in the internal Pureology photo competition and won the opportunity to re-create the looks with MODERN SALON.

When trend releases were first issued for fall/winter 2009, I was a little surprised. I’d gotten used to hearing about how to “warm up” the hair with orange-red tones, sun-kissed accents or honey highlights. But apparently, “cool” is cool again.
