She is an uber-famous face-and body-but Kathy Ireland long ago illustrated that her good looks are matched by equally good brains. The model, actress and author launched her brand kathy ireland Worldwide in 1993 and since then she has been creating brands and solutions that have seen global success. Today, this supermodel shares her super skincare secrets and news about her skincare product line, NuGene kathy ireland.with MODERN SALON:
MODERN SALON: How long has NuGene kathy ireland been in development?
KATHY IRELAND: Over 30 years ago, I began researching skin care, working with chemist and experts in the industry, to formulate products that would truly bring lasting benefits to our skin. I’ve never experienced a product that works as well as NuGene kathy ireland. Our mission statement says it all, “Miracles Happen…”
MS: What are the special needs of mature skin that NuGene kathy ireland will address?
KI: Our bodies require exercise for fitness and health. No matter how much we exercise our skin requires specific attention and maintenance as well, especially as we mature. Our NuGene kathy ireland product covers many factors, such as… around the eyes, dry skin, skin darkening, spots or discoloration, pores and facial cleansing for healthier looking skin. We also offer a rejuvenating shampoo conditioner and anti-hair loss serum… this functional formula leverages anti-oxidants, in exclusive multi-protein blend, and botanical oils to rejuvenate the hair, follicle and scalp.
MS: How have you (have you?) changed your skin care routine as you have moved through life?
KI: Skin care is something that cannot be ignored as we age. I believe that age can make us beautiful… especially if we are taking care of ourselves. Washing off all the make-up. Using every step of the NuGene kathy ireland process. Not skipping days. Being diligent. The results are wonderful for everyone I know, that is using our products.
MS: You have had many ‘glam squads’ working with and around you—were there any great skincare tips you heard over the years that you still adhere to?
KI: No. I was stubborn and ignored too much good advice, that’s one reason my skin has so much sun damage. NuGene kathy ireland is making a powerful difference.
MS: Do you have any skincare regrets? (Didn’t wear sunscreen, slept with makeup on, etc.)
KI: All of them. I was a beach rat. I literally used iodine on my skin, OMGOODNESS! It’s a miracle that I have any skin left.
MS: How do you talk about health and fitness to your children? Or do you primarily model good habits? Or both?
KI: As parents, my husband and I do both. Sunscreen. Veggies. Lean protein. Lots of water. Sleep. We’re better teachers than when we were students.
MS: For so many women, the years when they are working, raising children are also the years when they tend to neglect themselves and look after others, first. What are some immediate changes/positive steps you would suggest to someone in their 40s or 50s who has always put themselves last but now wants to change that?
KI: Establish your priorities. They will be challenged, even by yourself. If you don’t take care of yourself, who will take care of your family? Whenever we jump into an airplane, flight attendants reminds us, in case of an emergency, put on your own oxygen mask first, so that you’ll be able to care for others. That works for everyone, everyday.
MS: Finally, what is your secret to staying so glowing and gorgeous?
KI: You are very kind. My Faith is the foundation of my life. My family is the heart of my life and NuGene kathy ireland along with some light therapy keep me together. Thank you so much.
