September 2022’s New York Fashion Week featured Spring/Summer 2023 collections from tons of top luxury fashion brands. Garments and accessories ranged widely, from innovative and avant-garde, to chic and ready-to-wear. It’s no wonder that NYFW is one of the most exciting events of the year. And, just as exciting as the fashion, the hairstyles dazzle us to no end. Here are some of our favorite New York Fashion Week hair creations from some of our favorite brands.
Keratin Complex
Theory
The Theory runway show showcased sophisticated, luxe, diverse looks created for the active and modern lifestyle. Keratin Complex partnered with leading celebrity hairstylist, Nero, to create contemporary yet classic hairstyles to match Theory’s modernized and elegant Spring 2023 collection.
Tommy Hilfiger
Keratin Complex partnered with celebrity stylist extraordinaire, Virginie Moreira, to help create hair styles that perfectly embodied not only the Tommy Hilfiger woman and man, but the experiential event itself. Clear hair trends emerged – and still looked fabulous despite the downpour of rain during the outdoor show. Styles included side ponytails, double twists and amazing textured looks that underscored the diversity of hair types of the models.
R+Co
NO SESSO
Malcolm Marquez, lead hairstylist for R+Co, used some of the brand’s hero products to create futuristic hair looks for the NO SESSO Spring/Summer 2023 show.
“We’re working with R+Co to create our futuristic vision for 2023,” Marquez explained. “We made custom hair pieces that we bent and molded into structures pinned into the models’ hair. I love to go over-the-top with hair, and I was really inspired by the theme of sexy futurism, sculpture, architecture and organic shapes.”
amika
Susan Alexandra
This season, Susan Alexandra hosted a comedy show at New York’s iconic Comedy Cellar—with a night of comedians (including SNL's Chloe Fineman and Sarah Sherman) sharing her latest collection. “We wanted to focus on each comedian’s personal style, while infusing some 90s supermodel hair into their looks—including big, bouncy curls throughout,” says Naeemah LaFond, amika’s Global Artistic Director.
Selkie
Using amika products, stylist Linh Nguyen came up with a positively ethereal look for the Selkie collection. “The inspiration for the Selkie look is The Last Unicorn, an amazing animated film from the 80s, with a dreamy, 70s-inspired vibe,” he explains. “We really wanted to bring that through with the hair look, which is loose, soft and romantic.”
