A Day in the Life of Joie Wallace

6:45 AM: Rise and shine! I start the morning off with prayer, meditation and gratitude.

7:00 AM: I grab a cup of coffee and I watch Good Morning America.

8:00 AM: I get in a hot shower and throw my hair up in a ponytail, pick out a comfortable outfit and get dressed. Then I prepare an easy breakfast, a bag lunch and a to-go coffee, and I’m out the door on my way to the salon.

9:00 AM: I always get to the salon an hour before my first client arrives. I like to go over the services that I will be doing for the day. I will also start setting everything up for that first client.

10:00 AM: I start on my first client of the day, which is normally a shampoo and style. While the client is conditioning out of the dryer, I will eat that breakfast and coffee I made.

12:00 PM: I start my color, which is always a long process. I don’t work with an assistant; I only work with one client at a time. I have termed this service “Sessions with Joie.”

4:30 PM: I’m usually in the latter part of my color service and by this time, I’m sitting down to have lunch.

7:00 PM: I am on my way home trying to guess what’s for dinner.

8:00 PM: At this point I have had dinner and I’m multitasking. I’m working on social media content and preparing for any business content updates to my website and my online university. I also take the opportunity to answer emails and messages.

9:00 PM: I shower, brush my teeth and grab a comfortable pair of pajamas. Now I love winding down, so I grab some hot herbal tea and light an aromatherapy candle. I may grab a book or catch up on my favorite pre-taped TV shows. It’s me time!

10:45 PM: At this time, my sleep alert on my phone lets me know I need to go to bed. I turn off everything, give gratitude, say my prayers, and lastly, fall into sleep. I believe rest is the most important part of being healthy.

I know what you’re thinking: this comfortable schedule sounds too good to be true. And you could be right because we know life always has its hurdles, and sometimes things just don’t go the way we would like. So yes, every once in a while, things change and my schedule is not as smooth. But that’s life, right?
