City of Hope: George W. Schaeffer Named Spirit of Life Honoree

City of Hope’s National Professional Salon Industry has named President & CEO of OPI Products Inc. / Aloxxi International George W. Schaeffer as the recipient of the 2012 Spirit of Life Award. He will receive the award at the annual Spirit of Life Award Dinner, held in conjunction with the Professional Beauty Association’s Beauty Week 2012 in Las Vegas on July 21st. Schaeffer will be honored by hundreds of his colleagues at the gala, who will recognize him for his outstanding philanthropic and business contributions.
On January 27, City of Hope hosted Schaeffer and invited guests for a morning tour of the facility in Duarte, CA, which included meetings with their staff, presentations of ongoing research and luncheon.
Schaeffer, who considers a lifetime of philanthropy his greatest accomplishment, has established the George W. Schaeffer Endowment for Innovation in Diabetes Research for the City of Hope. The endowment will provide resources in perpetuity for scientists at City of Hope as they continue to transform the understanding of and treatment for this difficult disease.
