Sebastian Professional's 2017 What's Next Awards was launched in NYC tonight with an industry and press event, introducing the "Twisted" Collection to be used as inspiration for entrants. Christina McCarver, North American Director of Education offered an overview of the competition and then introduced the Sebastian Professional Design Team members Anthony Cole, Omar Antonio and Anthony Cress and their models, each sporting a different expression of texture from gentle to extreme. The new collection is chock full of curly hair - hair that is curled by nature or by hot tools. There are 6 Twisted products designed to ensure that these curls not only survive but thrive.

Check out these two videos. The first is an overview of the competition from Christina McCarver, and the second is an overview of the looks introduced at the event.

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You

In Dubai, a salon visit isn’t an appointment. It’s a weekly routine, and clients can spend $800 to $1,400 a month on it, according to Gaurav Tripathi of MADI International. On October 6-8, 2026, the market behind those numbers opens its doors as Beautyworld Dubai marks its 30th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together distributors, brands, stylists and salon owners from all over the world.
