Of course we watched the 2016 Grammy Awards for the music, but we mostly watched for the red carpet beauty looks. Blunt bobs, disco waves and simple, yet gorgeous haircolor stole the show; these hairstyles were the winners in our book, and forcasted some of the biggest hair trends we'll be seeing for spring and beyond.
The recipients of the Grammys' (unofficial) hair awards, according to Nick Stenson, were bronde, bobs and lobs.
"While no actual awards were given for great hair at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, music’s biggest night with nonetheless celebrated with a pageantry of song, style and as always, fabulous hair," Stenson says.
We have to agree; those were some of our favorite red-carpet trends as well. The chop (or tuck) that generated the most buzz was Taylor Swift's Anna Wintour-esque look. Her bronde hair was straightened and fell slightly above her chin. The classic cut served as the perfect contrast to her sexy dress.
Adele rocked a similar bronde haircolor and wore her hair in a straightened lob, a cut we don't see going away anytime soon.
"Move over ombre, make way for bronde," Stenson writes on his website. "All the stars in the lineup above prove how flattering this year’s bronde, a rich fusion between brown and blonde can be. The almost universally flattering color technique proves that you don’t need to choose between the two colors. Pairing the rich depth of darker tones with amazing blonde hues provides a sun-kissed bronde result that’s a friend to most everyone."
Chris McMillan styled Ellie Goulding's lob, which looked just as effortless and beachy as it did sophisticated and elegant. We love this style's versatility of how it can be dressed up or dressed down.
Winner of the "Best New Artist" honor, Meghan Trainor also won "best new haircolor" in our book. Trainor debuted her auburn color at the awards show, a perfect warm hue we can see being a huge trend for spring.
The '70s are all the rage right now, in both fashion, hair and makeup. Presenter, and T-Swift's plus-one for the evening, Selena Gomez channeled Studio 54 vibes and wore her long brown hair in big, bouncy curls. We can't wait to see Selena-inspired looks this prom and wedding season.
