With Structured Texture: Runway Shapes, Real-World Textures, Monae Everett says she wanted to bridge the gap between high-fashion hair and the real textures stylists work with every day. As the ABS 2026 Spokesperson, she debuted this collection to show that textured styling is not one technique or one finish. It is a system of moisture, structure, shape, and artistry — built to move from the salon to the stage, the camera, and the client who wants something unforgettable.
"The excitement around this collection grew even more when I promoted ABS during my CBS Chicago interview, bringing textured hair education to a larger audience before stepping onto the show floor. My models ranged from loose curls to coily hair, which allowed me to show the true range of texture — silk press movement, sculpted updos, braided details, editorial volume, and camera-ready finishes created with intention."--Monae Everett

“This collection is my love letter to textured hair and to the stylists who want to serve it with more intention. I wanted to show that structure does not take away from texture. When done well, structure helps texture hold its shape, tell a stronger story, and photograph beautifully.”--Monae Everett

Shape: Round Camera-Ready Frame
Why I Created This Look:
I created this look to show how a twist-out becomes editorial when the shape is built with intention. By keeping the center twisted and expanding the ends, the style frames the face and neck while keeping texture visible, soft, and structured.
Step 1: Shampoo and condition with Design Essentials Honey Crème Moisture Retention Super Detangling Conditioning Shampoo and Honey Crème Moisture Retention Masque to add moisture. Apply Bamboo & Silk HCO Leave-In Conditioner to moisturize and detangle.
Step 2: Divide the hair into a beach-ball pattern with at least 8 sections, then create two-strand twists on the scalp toward the perimeter of the hairline.
Step 3: Apply Compositions Foaming Wrap Lotion and allow the hair to fully dry.
Step 4: Apply Silk Essentials Thermal Strengthening Serum while untwisting the ends only, leaving the center of the scalp twisted for structure.
Step 5: Backcomb the untwisted hair for fullness, then pull the hair around the neck and face to create the final frame.
Step 6: Secure the shape with Formations Finishing Spritz.
Monaè Tip: Use a diffuser to help set and secure the desired face- and neck-framing shape. For a stronger silhouette, make sure the hair is pulled around the neck.

“I created Structured Texture because textured styling deserves to be taught with structure, not treated like guesswork. Every look in this collection was built with intention — from the prep to the sectioning to the final finish — so stylists could see how texture can be soft, sculpted, editorial, and wearable.”--Monae Everett

Shape: Sculptural Round Silhouette
Why I Created This Look:
I created this style to show off the hair’s natural texture while building a strong sculptural silhouette.. The braided loops along the hairline add an editorial spin on edge art, while the silhouette keeps the texture bold, sculptural, and intentional.
Step 1: Shampoo and condition with Design Essentials Agave & Lavender Moisturizing & Strengthening Shampoo and Agave & Lavender Moisturizing & Detangling Conditioner to add moisture and support manageability. Apply Bamboo & Silk HCO Leave-In Conditioner to moisturize and detangle.
Step 2: Create 5 sections: 1 fringe section, 2 side sections, and 2 horizontal sections across the occipital bone.
Step 3: In the fringe section, create small cornrows toward the face, then shape the ends into braided loops along the hairline and sew the loops in place for an editorial spin on edge art.
Step 4: Use Compositions Foaming Wrap Lotion and Contours Protein Styling Gel to smooth the remaining 4 sections.
Step 5: Wrap the hairline, leaving the ends free. Comb Bamboo & Silk HCO Leave-In Conditioner and Compositions Foaming Wrap Lotion through the ends to emphasize the natural texture.
Step 6: Once dry, twist and pin the textured ends into place to build the final sculptural shape

“For me, ABS was the perfect place to debut this collection because it brings together education, artistry, and the future of professional beauty. Structured Texture: Runway Shapes, Real-World Textures was created to show that textured hair belongs everywhere — on the salon floor, on the runway, on camera, and in every conversation about modern beauty.”----Monae Everett

Shape: Face-Framing Silk Press
Why I Created This Look:
I created this look to show how a silk press can still have movement, volume, and softness. The goal was a polished finish that feels light, touchable, and camera-ready — not stiff or weighed down.
Step 1: Cleanse with Design Essentials Oat Protein & Henna Deep Cleansing Shampoo to clarify the hair, remove product buildup, and create the foundation for more movement and volume. Condition with Rosemary & Mint Stimulating Super Moisturizing Conditioner.
Step 2: Apply Agave & Lavender Blow-Dry & Heat Shield as the leave-in and heat protectant.
Step 3: Apply Compositions Foaming Wrap Lotion as the base before the blowout to help the curls last longer.
Step 4: Blow-dry the hair smooth, keeping lift and movement through the roots and ends.
Step 5: Lightly mist the entire head with Formations Finishing Spritz, then curl with a 1-inch curling iron. Pin each curl in place until it cools.
Step 6: Brush out the curls for soft volume and movement, then finish with Love With Diamonds Oil Sheen Spray.
Monaè Tip: For a true weightless silk press, remove excess product buildup first with a clarifying shampoo. Lightly spraying the hair with holding spray before curling helps create hold without drying out or damaging the hair.

Shape: Voluminous Half-Up Frame
Why I Created This Look:
I created this look to show how a silk press foundation can be transformed into a soft, voluminous half-up style. The shape adds fullness and length while keeping the finish polished, romantic, and camera-ready.
Step 2: Apply Agave & Lavender Blow-Dry & Heat Shield as the leave-in and heat protectant, then apply Compositions Foaming Wrap Lotion as the base before the blowout to help the curls last longer.
Step 3: Create 5 sections: section 1 as the fringe, sections 2 and 3 on the sides, and sections 4 and 5 horizontally across the occipital bone.
Step 4: Style section 1 into a side-swept bang, then pull sections 2 and 3 into a ponytail on top of the head.
Step 5: Create one large braid using sections 4 and 5, then pin the braid in place.
Step 6: Add a pre-curled wig over sections 4 and 5 by pinning it into place, then wrap the top of the wig around the ponytail to secure the half-up shape.
Step 7: Mist the hair with Reflections Liquid Shine Spray and Formations Finishing Spritz before curling. Brush out curls and finish with a final mist of Reflections Liquid Shine Spray and Formations Finishing Spritz.
Monaè Tip: A pre-curled wig is a fast way to add fullness and length while keeping the foundation clean, secure, and camera-ready.

Shape: Asymmetrical Height
Why I Created This Look:
I created this style to show how coily texture can support height, drama, and an intentionally asymmetrical shape. The braided loops at the hairline add detail, while the added coily texture builds a bold triangular structure with strong editorial impact.
Step 2: Create 5 sections, including a top fringe section near the front hairline.
Step 3: In the fringe section, create small cornrows toward the face, then shape the ends into braided loops along the hairline and sew them in place for an editorial spin on edge art.
Step 4: Use Compositions Foaming Wrap Lotion and Contours Protein Styling Gel to smooth the remaining sections.
Step 5: In sections 2 and 3, create 2 ponytails and braid in an editorial base accessory from the Artist on the Go Bag.
Step 6: Wrap curly synthetic extensions around the ponytails and pin them in place, leaving the ends free for added texture.
Step 7: For added drama and height, pin a coily wig on top of sections 4 and 5 to complete the asymmetrical triangular shape.
