Meghan Gallagher ( @hairbymeghan ) met first time client with level 8 dirty blonde with partial highlights and about an inch of regrowth. "She asked to be an ombre," says Gallagher, a stylist at Salon Facci, West Windsor, New Jersey who credits the Eva Scrivo Academy with her balayage expertise. Here she offers the HOW TO for this tasteful and classic color design:

Step 1: Apply Redken Shades EQ 20cc 7nb 20cc 7gb and 10 cc 8n with 50cc processing solution to root area and feather down to the lengths.

Step 2: Process for 30 minutes at room temperate. Wash and dry the hair.

Step 3: Now go in and apply a full head of balayage highlights. Tease at the root for the ombré effect.

Step 4: Apply L'Oreal Platinium Plus with 20 volume, beginning in the back using a diagonal V shaped parting. Skip 1/2 inch sections in between each panel.

Step 5: Lift to the desired level and shampoo.

Step 6: Glaze at the sing with Redken Shades EQ: 25cc 9nb 25cc crystal clear and 50 cc processing solution. Process for 3 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
